Tottenham Hotspur returned to the top of the Premier League table with a 2-0 victory over Fulham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday evening.
Heung-min Son and James Maddison were both on target for the hosts, who made it seven wins and two draws from their opening nine league games under manager Ange Postecoglou.
Son’s seventh goal of the season gave Spurs a first-half lead, and Maddison added a second after the break with his first goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The result sees Tottenham move two points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table, while Fulham remain in 11th place.

Tottenham Hotspur made a bright start to the match and came close to taking the lead in the second minute when Son was played through by Maddison, but his shot was saved by Bernd Leno in the Fulham goal.
Spurs continued to press and were rewarded for their efforts in the 36th minute when Son opened the scoring. The South Korean international picked up the ball on the edge of the box and curled a beautiful shot into the top corner of the net.
Fulham had a few chances to equalise in the second half, but they were unable to beat Tottenham goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini.
Spurs doubled their lead in the 54th minute through Maddison. Son was again involved in the build-up, playing a pass to Maddison who took a touch and then fired a low shot into the bottom corner of the net.
Fulham had a few more chances late on, but Spurs held on to secure a comfortable victory.

- Cristian Romero (8/10): Solid in defence and also offered a threat going forward.

- Ben Davies (7/10): Defended well and also got forward to support the attack.
- Emerson Royal (6/10): Solid performance from the Brazilian right-back.
- Rodrigo Bentancur (8/10): Excellent display from the Uruguayan midfielder. He was dominant in the middle of the park and also created a few chances for his teammates.
- Pierre-Emile Højbjerg (7/10): Another good performance from the Danish midfielder. He worked hard and provided a good shield for the defence.
- Dejan Kulusevski (6/10): Had a few chances to score, but was unable to find the net.
- James Maddison (8/10): Scored a goal and was involved in the other. Excellent display from the former Leicester City midfielder.
- Heung-min Son (9/10): Man of the match performance from the South Korean international. He scored a goal and provided an assist.
Fulham:
- Bernd Leno (6/10): Made a few good saves, but could have done better for both of Tottenham’s goals.
- Kenny Tete (6/10): Solid performance from the Dutch right-back.
- Tim Ream (6/10): Had a few difficult moments against Son, but overall defended well.
- Tosin Adarabioyo (5/10): Struggled to cope with Tottenham’s attack.
- Calvin Bassey (5/10): Gave away the ball cheaply for both of Tottenham’s goals.
- Harrison Reed (6/10): Worked hard in midfield, but was unable to get the better of Bentancur and Højbjerg.
- João Palhinha (6/10): Another good performance from the Portuguese midfielder.
- Andreas Pereira (6/10): Had a few chances to score, but was unable to find the net.
- Willian (6/10): Was a threat going forward, but also lost possession too often.
- Aleksandar Mitrović (6/10): Was isolated up front and struggled to get into the game.
- Neeskens Kebano (6/10): Had a few chances to score, but was unable to find the net.
