A young woman was returning home in the early hours of Sunday, when her scooty was hit by a car and her body was dragged for approximately four kilometers.
West Delhi: A woman’s body was discovered on the road in the early hours of Sunday, as revellers in Delhi rang in the New Year. The 23-year-old woman, who worked for an event company, was riding her scooty home when it was hit by a car. Instead of getting out of the car and assisting the accident victim, the occupants fled the scene. They allegedly did not realise the woman’s body had become entangled in the car wheel, and the 23-year-old was dragged for approximately 12 kilometers from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala.
When did the accident happens?
The first call about the accident was received around 3:24 a.m. on Sunday, when the caller reported a grey Baleno dragging a body. At 4:11 a.m., police discovered the woman’s body.
The body of the 23-year-old woman was dragged for approximately 12 kilometers, resulting in her death. The car’s occupants have been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, causing death by negligence, and criminal conspiracy.
How accused were arrested
Meanwhile, the police tracked the car and were able to identify the occupants after an investigation. The occupants claimed that their vehicle was involved in an accident in the Sultanpuri area.
After noticing a scooty that had been involved in an accident, the SHO on night patrolling duty had also reported it to the Sultanpuri Police station. At 3:53 a.m., the SHO notified the police station.
