New Delhi: In Northeast Delhi’s Karawal Nagar on Saturday night, an 88-year-old woman was allegedly slain and her home was looted by unidentified individuals, according to the police. According to sources, the woman was strangled to death while she was asleep after being tied up.
The Dayalpur police station received a report of a theft and murder, and the Delhi Police are seeking for the unidentified suspect.
The woman, Shanti Devi, was living alone in the home, according to the authorities. According to the police, her husband passed away a few years ago, and their three boys are all settled and live far away.
Around nine o’clock on Sunday morning, people called the PCR to report the event. The caller informed the police that despite repeated knocks and calls, the woman was not answering.
Sanjay Sain, the deputy commissioner of police for the northeast, stated, “The station house officer personally arrived. When the door was opened by the police, they discovered the woman dead in her bed. Her home had been entirely looted.
When the victim arrived at the hospital, she was pronounced dead. According to the authorities, an autopsy will be done to determine how she was attacked and died.
The body was moved to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital after the police contacted teams from the crime and forensic science labs to examine the scene and gather samples.
