Hybrid solar eclipse tomorrow, check essential details including timings.

In April of 2023, the first solar eclipse of the year will take place, although it will not be visible in India. This particular eclipse is classified as a hybrid solar eclipse, as it will consist of both an annular and a total solar eclipse. Following the hybrid solar eclipse, there will be only one additional solar eclipse occurring on October 14th for the year 2023.

What is a hybrid solar eclipse?

A hybrid solar eclipse, also known as annular-total eclipse, is a rare type of solar eclipse that appears as a combination of an annular and a total solar eclipse. During a hybrid eclipse, the Moon’s shadow has both an antumbra and a umbra part, which creates a path of annularity at certain points on the Earth’s surface and a path of totality at other points. This occurs because the Moon’s apparent size is not large enough to completely block out the Sun, causing the Sun’s outer ring or “annulus” to be visible from certain areas on Earth. The path of totality is the area where the eclipse is seen as a total eclipse, while the path of annularity is where the eclipse is seen as an annular eclipse. The type of eclipse observed at a given location during a hybrid eclipse depends on the observer’s position on the Earth’s surface. Hybrid eclipses are relatively rare, with only a few occurring per century.

When does a solar eclipse occur?

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, blocking all or a portion of the Sun’s light from reaching the Earth.

Solar Eclipse 2023 Date and Time?

The first solar eclipse of the year 2023 will occur on April 20th. People will be able to witness a partial solar eclipse on this day. The next solar eclipse will occur on Saturday, October 14th. According to Indian Standard Time, the solar eclipse on April 20th, 2023 will start at 7:04 am and end at 12:29 pm. The rare solar eclipse will be visible from Australia, Eastern and Southern Asia, the Pacific Ocean, Antarctica, and the Indian Ocean.

Which countries will witness the solar eclipse?

Solar eclipses are rare and awe-inspiring celestial events that have fascinated people for centuries. While a solar eclipse can only be seen from certain parts of the world, it remains a highly anticipated event for many. The first solar eclipse of 2023 will occur on April 20 and will be visible only in certain parts of Southeast Asia and Australia. During a hybrid solar eclipse, the “annual ring of fire” will be visible for a few seconds in the Indian and Pacific Oceans, but not on land. According to Space.com, the total eclipse will only be visible in three locations, including Exmouth, Western Australia, Timor-Leste, and West Papua.

How to watch a solar eclipse?

It is important to take proper precautions when watching a solar eclipse to avoid damaging your eyes. Here are some safe ways to watch a solar eclipse:

  1. Use special eclipse glasses: You can buy specially made eclipse glasses that have filters to protect your eyes from the harmful rays of the sun. Make sure to only use glasses that meet international safety standards and are not damaged.
  2. Make a pinhole projector: You can make a simple pinhole projector using cardboard, paper, or a cereal box. Cut a small hole in one end and project the sun’s image onto a surface held a few feet away from the other end.
  3. Watch online: Many space agencies and astronomy organizations stream live footage of solar eclipses online.
  4. Attend a viewing event: Check for solar eclipse viewing events in your area hosted by astronomy clubs or science museums.

Remember to never look directly at the sun during a solar eclipse without proper eye protection.

India reports more than 6,000 new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours, with active infections surpassing 28,000 mark

According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry on Friday, India witnessed another surge in COVID-19 cases with 6,050 new infections reported in the past 24 hours. This rise in cases follows the previous day’s count of 5,300 cases, marking a consecutive increase in infections.

As a result of the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, India’s active caseload has now increased to 28,303, which is an alarming rise of nearly 2,716 cases.

In response to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya is reportedly scheduled to conduct a review meeting with the health ministers of all states and Union Territories today, as per news agency ANI. This meeting is expected to address the concerning rise in cases and formulate strategies to combat the spread of the virus.

According to the news agency’s report, MoS Health Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar stated that the Central government has been regularly issuing guidelines to all the States and Union Territories regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also reviewed the situation with all the states. Today, Union Health Minister Dr. Mandaviya will hold a review meeting with the health ministers of all States and UTs to further discuss the guidelines and strategies for tackling the current surge in cases.

As per scientists, the current surge in COVID-19 cases in India is being attributed to the XBB.1.16 variant of the virus. However, they also mentioned that people in India have developed hybrid immunity as a result of both vaccination and natural infection, which means that hospitalization rates are not expected to be very high due to the current variants of the virus. Nonetheless, the Indian government has advised citizens to wear masks in crowded places and to ensure they complete their vaccination doses if they haven’t already done so, as a precautionary measure to curb the spread of the virus.

As per the latest bulletin from INSACOG (Indian SARS-CoV-2 Consortium on Genomics), the newly identified recombinant coronavirus variant, XBB.1.16, has been detected in various regions across India and accounts for 38.2% of infections detected till date. This variant has been closely monitored by health authorities in India and globally, and more research is being conducted to determine its potential impact on the course of the pandemic.

The Mayor of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Shelly Oberoi, has reassured the public that the MCD is fully prepared to handle any COVID-related situation in Delhi. She stated that all MCD hospitals have the necessary facilities, including reserved beds and oxygen cylinders, to treat COVID-19 patients. Additionally, the hospitals are equipped to conduct RT-PCR and antigen tests for diagnosis. Meanwhile, in Sikkim, the state government has issued an advisory urging people to wear face masks in public places due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases in the state and across the country. This advisory is in line with the government’s efforts to encourage the public to take necessary precautions and prevent the spread of the virus.
